MLM Prospect - How Do You Find The Good One?
The MLM prospect is the lifeline of your network marketing business. It's great to find the product, have the best upline and marketing materials but finding and converting the prospect into your business opportunity can be time consuming, especially when you are first starting out.
The MLM prospect is not concerned about your business and will be very skeptical. The typical prospect wants to know how they can benefit. Your job in promoting your business opportunity is to catch the prospect's attention quickly and appeal to their self interest. This is hard because you are naturally inclined to try to sell the prospect your opportunity and product but you really need to be listening to what the prospect really wants and why he/she wants to work from home.
The prospect who is telling you that he/she wants to improve their lifestyle and make money but does not want or have the time to spend on developing a business should cause you to pause and reconsider. Is this person a real MLM prospect? It takes time for you to develop and train your downline and you want to have people in your business that want to make money but know it will take work and time to be successful. You want someone who is a serious prospect. To find a business minded prospect you will have to speak with many people who like the idea but don't want to put in any effort.
Many network marketing companies exist and many people fail because they didn't expect to work hard or treat the opportunity as a business. Most MLM companies will tell you to promote your business by talking to everyone you meet about your opportunity and to bring your prospects to meetings so they can be convinced to join. Although some people can find relatives and friends to join, most of the time you find they don't want anything to do with your opportunity and distance themselves from it and you. Even if all of your friends and relatives join (which is unlikely) you will have to find another source of leads. The majority of people that fail, try friends and relatives and realize it isn't going to be as easy as they first imagined and then give up.
The internet is the best tool to help you find your MLM prospect. It is far reaching and is open 24/7. It can't hurt you to follow some of the old network marketing techniques but you need to be creative and have an open mind to find other lead sources. The best way is to pre-sell your MLM prospect. Know your product and know that your prospect needs to be comfortable with you. The prospect needs to feel that you are really there to help them to be successful in their own business.
There are many different techniques to help you build a strong MLM prospect list. I found Ann Sieg's philosophy to be one of the best concepts online. She wrote the Renegade Network Marketer and once you read this it will feel like a light bulb went off in your head. It all makes sense.
Many of the successful network marketing companies use her same techniques to build their prospect lists that they in turn sell to you. The problem is that you don't know how many other people have received these same lists and you are spending a lot of money for them.
If you decide to purchase any self-help books to discover how to be successful building your network marketing business, The Renegade Network Marketer is the first resource to obtain. It will save you from spending a lot of money on worthless leads.
